Emilia Gargallo Gonzalez is a Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), where she works on sustainable food systems and the international dimension of aquaculture, contributing to the EU’s broader agenda on the blue economy and global ocean governance.
She brings more than 15 years of experience within the European Commission, having worked on international policy and the implementation of structural reforms across key sectors including development cooperation, environment and trade, with a strong focus on cross-cutting and strategic policy coherence.
She holds advanced degrees in European law from Madrid, Paris and Belgium, as well as a Master’s in International Business Development. Her academic and professional trajectory reflects a strong European vocation and a sustained engagement with international and regulatory affairs.
Originally from a Spanish region with a long-standing aquaculture tradition, she brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to advancing sustainable aquaculture in Europe and globally.
