Mr Triantafyllis is the vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the World Union of Wholesale Markets. He has served it through various positions and has represented it in various fora and institutions like the High-Level Forum for the unfair trade practices in the b2b food supply chain, the EU Fruit & Vegetables market prices observatory and the EU Food Loss and Waste Platform.
He is also the General Manager of Central Markets and Fisheries Organization, the state-owned company that administrates two central markets and 11 fish-markets in Greece. He has been serving the organization for 35 years in a variety of positions.
Mr Triantafyllis is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly, Greece, researching how food markets are incorporated in the urban tissue. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Technological Institution of Athens and an MBA from the University of Piraeus, Greece. The subject of his Master thesis was how fresh food prices are formatted from farm to fork, and the specific role of Central Markets. He has published academic works on financial programming in food distribution within central markets and financial planning. He also possesses four Certificates of Specialization from the VTC – University of Athens
Mr. Triantafyllis has been counsellor to various committees under the Greek Ministry of Commerce, in subjects dealing with the wholesale trade. He has also contributed as an advisor or expert in food supply chain matters in the interests of various governments in the Middle East and Africa.
