Pantelis Katharios

Pantelis Katharios is the founder of Aquatic Biologicals, the first spin-off company of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). The company develops specialized vaccines and health products for the prevention and treatment of diseases in aquaculture. In 2022, the company was nationally recognized as “Spin-off of the Year” by Elevate Greece, confirming its innovative role in the field of marine biotechnology.

At the same time, he serves as Research Director at the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture of HCMR, with long-standing expertise in fish health and disease control in aquaculture. His work focuses on the diagnosis and management of fish diseases, the development of autogenous vaccines, and the use of bacteriophages as an alternative to antibiotics. He has participated in and coordinated more than 20 national and European research projects and has an extensive publication record in international scientific journals, book chapters, and technical manuals.
